Modern Treetop Living
659 Bergen contains 12 beautiful, light filled, identical apartments (plus a penthouse above). Since nearly every unit in the building has a matching floor plan, there is an equality among owners. But subtle differences exist that make unit 4C the most coveted unit in the building. Here’s the breakdown.
Being on the highest floor (ignoring the penthouse) means having a view over the neighborhood roofline. With walls of windows that color your home life, more sky makes all the difference.
The elevator in this building takes you right to the roof-top, but even so, having easy stair access is a perk. When you have rooftop gatherings, you will find yourself making rush trips down to the apartment. Being right below just makes the roof feel a little more like it’s yours.
Another benefit of facing the back is the inclusion of a balcony. Only the backside has them. Additionally, only the eastern units have bonus side facing windows, making 4C the only unit on the premiere floor with both balcony and bonus window.
The balcony is a game changer for added space and entertaining. The bonus Eastern lookout allows for tangible rays of morning light to stretch across the floor, and makes your window view, panoramic.

THE KITCHEN
THE KITCHEN
The kitchen’s secret is packing in the storage space. With a tucked away step stool an additional row of storage is in reach, and can accommodate a few unessential kitchen items that don’t get used daily
Count the shelf spaces in your own kitchen for comparison. This kitchen has 16 full size shelves, plus storage above them, and below island/sink level. See below:
The kitchen straddles the worlds of open concept, and separated space. You can saddle up to the bar area and clack your laptop while conversing with a chef...

…Or living room and kitchen activity can remain independent, letting said chef zone into a podcast and the contents on the stove. In a compact home, it has turned out to be nice to have a kitchen that maintains its status as a quasi-seperate room. It just simply creates another place in to be.
Bathroom
In the bathroom the star feature is the tub and shower. What brokers refer to as a ‘soaking tub’ translates to a vessel for a true uncompromised lavish bath. Big enough for a tall person (or persons) to be comfortable, It’s the kind of thing that makes someone who never thought about baths invest in bath entertainment and become grateful your apartment can deliver it to you.
THE BALCONY
THE BALCONY
Since many people will say the apartment balcony ends up being forgotten about, here are all the ways we don’t forget about it:
It’s an alt work at home space, power equipped, room to arrange furniture and distant city views to unfocus the eyes.
she starts at her desk, then works outside, ends the day in that blue chair
With two people living here, it’s our de facto private room for phone calls or computer work when the other is home. It’s privacy also serves when friends arrive.
It’s our evening bbq, or breakfast space. It makes the thought of eating at home sometimes win out over a neighborhood restaurant.
It’s a dogs chill spot
this was a SURPRISE birthday swing
A cool down space after a sweaty bike ride when it would be impolite to blast the AC.
Evenings alone that would have mostly consisted of playing with my phone quietly on my couch, feel a little more satisfying playing with my phone on the outdoor couches.
nieghbor’s porch
Decorating it with lights gives a warm glow to the apartment from the outside.
And when you have a party it gets love. Opening the double doors is like taking the living room outside.
